8 Less Hyped, High Street Make Up Favourites ♥

Wednesday, 20 September 2017

Who doesn't love a bargain? I know I certainly do! I'm forever on the hunt for affordable make up, that ticks all of the boxes of high end products, but at a fraction of the price! Today I thought I'd share some of my favourite bits of make up with you all, but best of all these beauties are all highly affordable and can all be found in Highstreet stores including Boots, Superdrug and Wilkos! I thought I'd include products, that despite the fact they're amazing, they're not as hyped up as your typical Collection Lasting Perfection Concealers and are sort of like little hidden beauties in the High Street make up world. Hope you find something you love! ♥♥♥

♥ Essence Volume Stylist Curl & Hold 18 Hour Mascara* - £3 - available here

So first up, is an amazing mascara from a brand I've become obsessed with over the past 6 months, Essence products can be found in Wilkos. If you haven't tried their products before, I recommend them 1000000%. They're such amazing quality products, yet they're so affordable, with most of their products being under £4, how insane?!  You see a full range of their products on the Wilkos website here. I couldn't write this post today without discussing the Essence Volume Stylist Curl and Hold Mascara which is just £3.... yep go out and buy 10 guys, it's only £3!!! You all need this in your make up bags. It boasts of incredible lash curl, and up to 18 hours of lasting volume. The wand is a fully loaded paddle brush, with long bristles on one side, and shorter ones on the opposite side.

It keeps my lashes separated, and coats the lashes evenly, with no fuss, or problems and gives them that all important curl I'm constantly craving from a mascara!  The formula is stunning, it boasts of of micro styling waxes that give extra hold, volume and curl. The texture of the mascara is creamy and wet and it coats the lashes perfectly giving you a dark, black, bold finish that really does last all, day long! SO GOOD! It's a buildable mascara that you can keep applying to reach your desired finish,

I find one to two coats of this enough to give me the full effect, and I'd only recommend applying two coats of this onto your lashes, before it starts to look a little clumpy for my own personal liking. This mascara doesn't start to come off throughout the day, it says in place really nicely, and doesn't flake. It's survived the long 12 hour shifts at work, which is witchcraft, as even some high end mascaras can't do that for me. I'm so impressed with it, and for just £3, I think it's a mascara we all need in our lives.

♥ Revlon Photo Ready Insta-Fix Highlighting Stick 'Gold Light'* -£9.99 - available here

A highlighter I've become obsessed with recently, and definitely one I'd recommend you all giving a go for yourself, is the Revlon Photo Ready Insta-Fix Highlighting Stick in 'Gold Light'.  It leaves me with such a lovely, natural, luminous glow that I simply cannot get enough of! The Golden shade gives you a gorgeous shimmer that's not too overpowering, just a lovely, healthy glow that makes you look amazing and feel confident!

It's really simple and easy to apply to your skin. I tend to apply it to my forehead, cheekbones, bridge of nose, chin, underneath my eyebrows and anywhere my skin would naturally attract a bit of a glow! The stick function makes application easy and precise, especially for on the go top ups! Lasting power is fantastic, the glow lasts for most of the day, and will last my 9-5, with just one top up at lunch time - which is amazing right?!

Pigmentation is fantastic, as you can see from the swatch above, where I only swatched one coat. I tend to use just one coat during the day for a more natural, subtle glow but if I'm on a night out, or it's a special occasion I will build the product up for an even more glowy, luminous, strobed finish. The stick will last a fair while too, as a little goes a long way! Revlon also do another variation of this highlighting stick in the shade 'Champagne' - which I really want to get my hands on! For the price, amazing pigmentation, lasting power, finish and quality, you simply cannot go wrong!

♥ Revlon Mega Multiplier Mascara* - £9.99 - available here

I didn't include it in this post, because it's such an obvious High Street Choice that so many of us already know about, but the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara is one of my favourite High Street mascaras. Thankfully I've found a really lovely, less hyped up mascara by Revlon that offers all the same qualities and more! It's like a little hidden treasure! The Revlon Mega Multiplier can be found in Boots or Superdrug. It boasts of breakthrough lash technology, with unique fibres that promise mega volume, and extreme length. Revlon claim that it's smudge proof, flake free, can be removed easily, and the mega lash brush helps to support lash application from root to tip with ease for a multiplied finish. I have to say I'm a big fan of the mascara wand and brush, it makes application simple, easy and most definitely effective, coating every single lash with ease, even those annoying corner ones, without making a mess, creating a fluttery, long, and natural false lash effect. It leaves my lashes looking volumised, curled, full, and lengthened. Best of all it doesn't clump in the slightest, so you can build this mascara up to your desired finish without the worry of spidery lashes

The formula of the Mega Multiplier is perfect - it's the perfect in between consistency, not too wet nor too dry. It has great lasting power and lasts without any tops ups, smudging or flaking during my 9-5 day at work. I really enjoy using this as my work mascara, as it's gives such a natural finish, that isn't ridiculously dramatic, so if you're looking for a mascara that will enhance your lashes really nicely, giving them length, volume, fullness, and curl without looking like you're off out for the evening, I'd totally recommend this!

♥ Soap & Glory Archery Brow Tint Precision Shaping Pencil 'Brownie Points' - £10 - available here

This little beauty is an absolute staple in my make up bag. I've been using it for around 2 years now, and I constantly repurchase every time I run out, because it's THAT GOOD. For years I'd be looking for an eyebrow product that provided easy application, fab lasting power, and great results, and I'd search high and low, trying both high end and high street products. From a recommendation on Twitter I gave the Soap & Glory Archery Brow Tint Precision Shaping Pencil a whirl and it's been a love affair ever since. It contains skin loving ingredients Chamomile, and Aloe Vera to help condition and protect the skin, as well as antioxidant Vitamin E. The thing I love about this product the most, is how amazing it makes my brows look, very 'fleeky' (urgh, so cringe I hate that word, but no better way to describe them!) yet natural. With results lasting all day long!

Application is an absolute dream and couldn't be made any easier.  The dual ended pencil makes achieving the perfect brows simple and easy. You simply start by using the felt tip tint, ensuring that you apply by stroking the felt tip end finely, to fill in any gaps and add fullness to your brows. Once you've done that, you swap sides and use the precise, pencil end, outlining your brows with the fine tipped pencil, to make your brows look defined, and to sketch out the perfect shape. The colour of Brownie Points suits my brow colour really well and isn't too dark nor too light.

There are two colour options available, Brownie Points (the one I use) aimed at Brunettes and Darker haired beauties (although I'm a blondie, and I prefer this one) or Blonde is Love (aimed at lighter haired beauties) I'd recommend going into your local Boots and swatching to determine which shade you'd prefer. I cannot recommend this enough, I'm not sure there is another product that can beat it!

♥ Essence Shine Shine Shine Lipglosses - £2 each (yep total bargain!) - available here

Ok so like I mentioned earlier, for a really long time, I've been obsessed with the brand Essence, which can be found in your local Wilkos. There lipglosses are no exception. I'm not just talking about the beautiful, summery, pink shades featured above, because I have around 6 different shade options from the Shine, Shine, Shine collection that I absolutely adore using. (Although the two above, are two of my faves!) but I just totally recommend the entire Shine, Shine, Shine lipgloss collection as a whole. The formula is amazing, not sticky in the slightest, but instead really dreamy to apply, and you can't feel the lipgloss sitting on your lips, it's a very lightweight formula, that provides beautiful gloss and shine, without sacrificing colour pigment and colour pay off. I mean look how pigmented these lipglosses are? And they're so long lasting too! Once the glossiness wears off after a few hours, they leave a lovely, colour stain on your lips! For just £2 each you cannot live without these in your collection. There are so many different complimenting, stunning shades to choose from too! Oh and did I mention the scent? It's almost good enough to eat, so sweet and feminine. I just cannot get enough of these lipglosses! Be sure to check them out, or you'll seriously regret it! :)

♥ Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lip Colours - £6.99 - available here

If you haven't tried these stunning Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lip Colors - you're seriously, seriously missing out! They're fast becoming my favourite lip products of all time, and I literally want to buy all 15 different shades, like...now. I probably have around 6 so far, and I'm honestly obsessed with every single one. I thought I'd share my favourite pink shades with you all today, because who doesn't love a bit of pink in their lives? I've been reaching for these lovely lip colours so much over the past few months and they were a major obsession of mine over Summer! The formula is super hydrating, and a dream to apply to your lips because of the creamy, smooth, soft, gel texture. They boast of an ultra hydrating formula with hyaluronic acid too!

The lip colours smooth into my lips like a dream and the lasting power is insane! You'd think that because of the hydrating, smooth and moisturizing qualities of the formula, that the longevity of the lip colours would be lacking, but don't be fooled, these gorgeous lip colours leave a gorgeous, semi matte stain on your lips for at least 3-4 hours before having to reapply! The finish is beautiful, it's very similar to that of the MAC Cremesheen formula lipsticks, with a glossy finish, that gradually dries into a semi-matte look, however much less drying than MAC lipsticks, these focus on leaving you lips, feeling soft and hydrated whilst giving you that colour pay off you crave.

I adore that you can see the shade of the lip colour on the lipstick tubing - it's a really lovely touch! The precision tip also makes application a dream, it's fuss free and top ups on the go are even easier!

The scent of the Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lip Colors is gorgeous - they're fruity, and sweet, with a mango and vanilla fragrance! I mean what's not to love about these lip colours? They have the pigmentation and colour pay off, of a lipstick, with the comfort, application and hydration of a lipgloss/balm and they're super affordable too! There's literally a shade to suit everyone! Get yourself to Boots, and get some of these! You will not regret it!

♥ Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation - £10.99  - available here

This little beauty has been an absolute staple in my make up bag for as long as I can remember. I'm much more of a high end foundation kinda girl (yep, the snobbery is real) despite the fact that I love High Street make up so much, I just tend to find that High Street foundations, never, ever live up to the High End beauties I love. That was until I tried the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum, many moons ago. This is the foundation that I wear daily, for work, when I want a low-key, natural base, that provides medium yet buildable coverage, and that stays in place all day long, without me having to worry about top ups.

I do opt for a more full coverage foundation in the evenings, or on a night out etc such as NARS Sheer Glow, as Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum is much more like a tinted moisturiser for me, but with much more coverage (Does that make sense?!)

I just love how awake, refreshed and radiant it makes my skin look and it survives long shifts = winner! It's a vitamin rich formula, that once applied, instantly provides an anti-fatigue boost, and an even complexion. I mentioned earlier that the coverage is medium, but buildable, because yes, it's not something I'd wear on a bad skin day, when I want full coverage, but if I'm feeling fairly confident with my skin, breakout wise, then I'll opt for this, as it evens out my skin tone really nicely and the radiance boost it gives is just so pretty!

The gel texture, makes blending an absolute dream, there's no fuss or mess which is why it's so perfect for early mornings before work! I don't have to worry about it looking cakey or uneven, because it's such a fab finish and would never let me down! It's such fantastic value for money, and gives some High End foundations a run for their money! I'll forever repurchase it, as I just love how amazing it makes my skin look and feel!

♥ Soap & Glory Super Cat Liquid Eyeliner Pen - £6 - available here

This is yet another, classic, make up staple in my collection and something that I'll repurchase forever. If Boots ever discontinue this, I'll be a very, very heartbroken lady indeed. The Soap & Glory Super Cat Liquid Eyeliner Pen has been helping me to achieve winged liner, easily with no fuss, for YEARS. Honestly it's fool proof. The felt tip design, with a fine, thin tip makes application SO easy, and simple. It's also a REALLY dark, black shade (which I love!) so it creates a really dramatic, winged look. All my selfies on Instagram, where I'm wearing winged liner, have been created using this.

The best thing is it lasts all day long, staying in place perfectly! It doesn't smudge, flake or move, it just stays in place like an angel! I've cried with this on and it still stays in place. I mean come on?! If this isn't witchcraft, then what is? Best of all, it's only £6 and it lasts forever. I wear winged eyeliner daily using this stuff, and I only have to repurchase every 4-5 months! Winged liner ladies, you need this in your life!

I hope you've all enjoyed todays post, I know it's been a long one, but I really enjoyed writing it and raving about some of my favourite High Street make up products that are less hyped up! I think it's so important to share the less hyped products, that some of you may know not about, I love finding little treasures, that are amazing and so affordable, and then sharing them with you guys!  Not all of us are Zoella and can afford tons of high end make up, so sharing High Street Make Up recommendations and reviews is super important to me! :) I hope you all found something you loved today!

What is your favourite High Street make up product?
Will you be adding any of the products mentioned today to your wishlist?

Have a lovely day!
